'airy Pottar!

I've been begging Ella for about a year now to let me read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to her, and she has shot me down every single time. She's worried that it will be too scary, but I think the first two, at least, are tame enough for her to enjoy.

After we finished Blubber last week I was ready to try my luck again. So... I told Ella I wanted to read one chapter of a book to her and then she could decide if she wanted to keep reading it or not. I wrapped the book in a towel and very carefully edited the text to eliminate anything in the vain of Potter, Harry, or anything else that might give it away, and gave it a go.

Well, I'm happy to say she's hooked. So it looks like I finally got my wish come true. Yay!

What a great, sneaky reader-mother you are, Christy! I'm sure Ella will love this book. I picked up a British edition when we were in York and took it with me to Edinburgh where I read it. It was really fun to read it a second time, so I'm sure you and Ella will both enjoy it.

I admire what a great mom you are! Keep up the wonderful work.

Love, Dad
