AIP

We tried something new this summer: Dan & Ella entered into Arts in the Park as part of Orem's Summerfest. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of their booth, but both participants had a good time. Ella was thrilled that 4 people voted for her as their favorite artist and Dan came in 3rd for the People's Choice Award. He also sold all but 2 of his watercolors but walked away with 2 additional commissions. All in all, it was a good time mostly because we did something outside our regular box. And for Dan it was especially great because it got him back in the groove with watercoloring and drawing on a regular basis. He is much, much easier to be around when he is painting and drawing outside of work. Trust me...

Anyway, we also had a grand time at Summerfest with Kasia and Kjell. Here's some pictures from the carnival and over the past week:

Ella is really into climbing lately

I tried to convince her to start with the "easy" course but she went with the hard one.

She got much higher but the other pictures didn't turn out.

Kasia's 1st ever carnival ride

Ella was thrilled to have Kasia with her--those girls can't get enough of each other!

Around & Around. All the spinning made Kjell sick.

This is what Kasia did when Kjell asked her to look at me for a picture. I love her personality!

Yeah. That's Ella way up there.

She is always climbing things and making her parents very nervous.

Relaxing after a good climb

Scarly-Bar is just one of her many nicknames

A girl's best friend

Like Papa, like Daughter

And the pretty Mama

This is what you get for walking 3 miles in flip flops. I thought they would be a good alternative to my running shoes since I have to be careful not to overheat and faint. Well, that was not my most brilliant idea ever. I think I'll stick with bringing ice water with me instead.

Ella called it my polka-dot.

OK, Christy, wear shoes and socks! No more polka dots.

What great photos---it's wonderful that Ella and Dan are getting their artwork out there in the public.

We're anxious to get home and be around your sweet family again soon.

I love you, Dad.

oh my gosh. Seriously. i felt so gross after that ride. It didn't help that I was already feeling like i had to throw up.

It was still fun to see Kasia and Ella have fun one those rides though. Thanks for inviting us!
