The Charm

So... We're having a baby. A baby boy. Due date: August 29th.

I keep asking myself, why now? Why did it work this time? It's going to be 8 years almost exactly since Ella was born (apparently I have a very small fertile window), and three miscarriages, numerous failed infertility treatments, complications from treatments, Dr.'s visits, procedures and loads of heartbreak later, we're pregnant now. It's hard to know why everything lined up for success this time, but somehow it did. I wish I understood it all better, but apparently I/we had a lot to learn over these past 6 1/2 years of trying to add a member to our family.

Now that he's on his way I mostly just feel shock, wonder and awe. And I really haven't had a whole lot of time to process my feelings. Between bed rest for the first 10 weeks, random fainting and other miscellaneous scares, all we've had time for is trying to keep the pregnancy going, praying and being grateful for the experience no matter what the outcome.

We've also had time to be feel surrounded by lots of love. Thank you to so many family and friends who have been fasting, praying and supporting us not just through this pregnancy but for the years before. We are indeed greatly blessed. I'm not sure what we did to deserve such good people in our lives (actually I know what we did, absolutely nothing! We just got amazingly lucky!) but I know you are special angels and blessings given to us by the Lord. Thank you, thank YOU!

So hopefully things will continue to go right and in approximately 18 weeks, we'll have a healthy and happy baby to keep us up at night and fill our home with poopy diapers. Yay!
