Circle of Life

Not only are my eyes* officially old, but apparently I'm old enough to have seen the invention of certain breakfast items:

"Mom, what was your favorite breakfast when you were a little kid?" asked Ella.

"Well, what do you think? What's your favorite breakfast?" I replied.

"Pancakes," she said decidedly.

"Hmm, well it wasn't pancakes. What other breakfast foods do you like?"

"French Toast."

"You got it! That was my favorite," I answered.

"Really?"

"Yup, really."

"They had invented french toast back then?" she asked surprised.

Long pause.

"Yes, we had french toast back then."

"Wow! That's cool, mom."

*Note the glasses on my face, and yes, I actually need them.
