I couldn't let this day pass without expressing my love and gratitude for my dear sister, Carrie. It's her birthday after all. I am so grateful that she was born and that she made it into our family. That's the funny thing about being adopted--you know your family is divine happenstance and it could've gone a million ways. It makes me for one really grateful for my Father in Heaven and also my family as a whole. But my dear Carrie has always been close to my heart. She was born with holes in her heart and was hospitalized as a baby from a severe allergic reaction. I still remember it. Seeing her looking helpless but so beautiful as always; the image vivid as yesterday. She was a keeper then and remains so today. I'm honored that I get to have her as my sister and a best friend.
