In 2006 our family went on a 7 week road trip--driving from Utah to New York City and back. We got to see lots of family and friends. One of many great memories was going through the Nauvoo Temple the summer after it was dedicated. Of course we wanted to share the experience with Ella as much as possible. Alas, here's what happened...

Here, Jace, these are for you...
This is a few weeks after Ella's burn accident.
After the intial doctor visits, Dan changed her bandages twice a day for over four months. Luckily only a medium-sized scar remains on the left hand side of her chest, and although the doctors were worried at first, it didn't cause any range of motion problems.
This is just 2 hours after the accident. The doctors were so impressed that she didn't squirm or cry when they pinned her down and scraped the dead, burned skin off. As parents though, it was awful. We knew if she was quiet it meant she was in A LOT of pain--Ella is NEVER quiet. But here she is smiling away.

Ella's always loved adventure! Here she is barely two years old!
We went to check on Ella during her nap and here's what we found. Sneaky. Sneaky.
